Hockey Club History
The Kaipaki Hockey Club was formed in 1929.
Many well known names from Ohaupo and Kaipaki played. One foundation member was Bill Smillie who went on to play for New Zealand in 1937.
Bert Goodwin was a foundation member and the Hockey Club used the Kaipaki Hall for their meetings, and some practices were held on the sports ground in 1951. Inter- Club matches were played at Steele Park, the traditional home of Waikato Hockey for nearly 80 years.
