12 worthy club men will represent Kaipaki in a day/night fixture against West Ham CC on Sunday. Kaipaki compete against West Ham on an annual basis for the Seddon Park Cup and it is a fixture that is a marquee event on the actioned packed Kaipaki cricket calendar.
The Seddon Park Cup was established in 2012 when West Ham - who had booked the use of the ground through their captain, club stalwart and local councillor Olly Te Ua - invited Kaipaki to play them. Kaipaki greatly accepted the offer and a very friendly competitive contest between the 2 clubs has been created ever since.
Kaipaki senior player and board member Darin Armstrong is delighted how the fixture has developed, “ This fixture is a great way to reward some very fine contributors that make Kaipaki the club it is. Much has been read about the success of our premier Kaipaki team but behind the club there are many people that form the back bone on why we have such a special culture”. Armstrong says.
“This game is solely for players and members of the club that have helped during the year with working bees, team management, fundraising events, tours and just general maintenance of our culture” continues Armstrong
Not only will Kaipaki we playing on the hallowed turf but the big electronic scoreboard will be in use also.
The game commences at 3.00pm and will be 35 overs. Red Badge will not be on the gate and entry is free of charge for people who wear green and gold.
