I have updated the Kaipaki Cricket Calendar. Adjustments are:
  1. This Saturday’s North Bombay game has been postponed until 23rd March – reason being, is that both them and us were scratching for a team due to players still being away on holiday. We decided instead of just playing and ticking a box that we would wait until both sides had a full complement of players to choose from.
  2. North Shore CC will bring a Presidents XI down to play us on the 30th March. This is a very exciting connection to have for us. Well done John for putting Brett Hollister in touch with me.
  3. The Internal Kaipaki game this weekend can now be played at Kaipaki. Dan Fenwick and also myself will play. It’s a great concept and well done Foxy for managing behind the scenes…I’m personally looking forward to it.
 
Other key points:
  • We are fully subscribed for the Kaipaki Sixes – I think we advertised on Tuesday and two days later we are full. We may even have too many teams – if that’s the case we may play a 10 team tournament instead of 8 teams. Be good to be inclusive rather that exclusive.
  • We have 8 teams from around NZ travelling to Wellington for the NZ Kindred Club Competition Finals Weekend on 1st/2ndFebruary. Kaipaki have led the charge on this and it’s been great to form some worthwhile connections from right around the country.
  • February and March are extremely eventful on the Kaipaki Calendar. I will manage the Kindred Games, But Foxy has kindly offered to lead the charge on the ‘Rep’ games vs ND Maori and NZ Croatia. Thanks Foxy.
  • I am working on day of Sixes but will create the draw, organize umpires etc. Just need guys to chip in on the day which I’m sure will happen naturally.

​​Seasons Summary 2018-19  

​Next Sunday Kaipaki will travel to Auckland and play in the very first game of a new and exciting national cricket competition – the New Zealand Kindred Cricket Club Competition.
 
12 cricket clubs from around the country have entered into this competition. The clubs have been split into 3 conferences; Northern, Central & Southern. Attached to this media release is a document that explains the competition concept plus the fixtures schedule and points table structure.
 
2018 – 2019 will again be another big season for the Baggy Green & Golds with 3 teams again competing in Hamilton Saturday Club Cricket. Kaipaki will again be playing a series of invitational games known as Kindred Fixtures. Not only will Kaipaki be playing in a national competition they will be playing many traditional annual games with the season finale against marquee rivals, Clifton CCC, who won the Greatbatch/Bradley Bat off Kaipaki last season.

We need to remember what makes us unique as a club:

·         Must wear Op Shop Blazers to all games (non negotiable) – no more that $20
·         Kaipaki Badge
·         Wearing Baggy Green & Gold Caps when on the field of play
·         Wearing Op Shop number 1’s when the call goes out for it.
·         Must bring a plate to home games and eat lunch with the opposition
·         Must clap the opposition captain into bat
·         Bum taps instead of high fives
·         Names out of a hat to decide batting order
·         Miniature criket bat for 100
·         Mounted ball for 5 wicket haul
·         Saturday afternoon all teams back to Kaipaki after play.
