Dear Kaipaki Nation,
The Annual Kaipaki Cricket Tour will be to Hawkes Bay. Please confirm your place in the Kaipaki Touring Squad by Friday 4th December 2015. Kaipaki in conjunction with Clifton Cricket Club are organising a 3 day cricket carnival with Wellington Wanderers, Auckland CC, Clifton and Kaipaki all competing for The Greatbatch/Bradley Cricket Bat. We are hoping this cricket carnival will become an annual event with all 4 cricket clubs sharing the hosting duties on a rotational basis. Details of the tour are below. I would like to take a squad of no more than 15 players. The WAGS are definitely invited again and are all encouraged to come down with us. Travel Members of the touring party will find their own transport down to Hawkes Bay. This allows flexibility for families etc. Accommodation Members of the touring party will source their own accommodation. This again allows flexibility for families etc with different budgets. Mark Greatbatch has informed me that he would be encouraging touring members to stay around the Havelock North area. There are many quality restaurants, cocktails bars and shops around Havelock North. Plus it is close to the Clifton Cricket Ground. Here are some helpful accommodation links: · http://www.havelocknorthnz.com/stay/ · https://www.holidayhouses.co.nz/Havelock-North.asp · http://www.aatravel.co.nz/new-zealand/Havelock-North_Accommodation.html Travel Uniform We will again be designing a classy tour shirt with the addition of a classy touring sweater. Kaipaki Cricket to field 6 teams prior to Christmas The Kaipaki cricket club continues to grow from strength to strength as players of all ages, abilities and experiences line up to represent the Baggy Green and Golds. Last season Kaipaki fielded 3 teams throughout the season but this year that has doubled to 6 teams. Kaipaki will field 4 Saturday senior teams that will compete in Waikato Valley and Hamilton competitions. An additional 2 teams will represent the junior and teenage arm of the club – Kaipaki U13’s will play in a Saturday morning Hamilton competition and Kaipaki U15 will play in a quadrangular competition that St Peter’s School, St Paul’s Collegiate and Cambridge HS will also compete in. The Club’s philosophy has always been to provide opportunities for cricket enthusiasts to get involved and also stay involved in cricket. The club has high standards about honouring the old school values of cricket and through this approach a special and unique culture has developed, influencing people to join the club. Not only will Kaipaki be providing opportunities for people to play competition cricket but there are opportunities for people to experience Kaipaki Oval through the Last Man Stands Competition Twilight Competition, 6 a side Cricket, Social Sunday Cricket and Women’s Cricket. If you are interested or know of anyone that is interested in playing for Kaipaki please contact Kent Currie on 021 944 710 or John Parker 021 930 145. Kind regards, Kent Currie Kaipaki Cricket Enthusiast Hello All,
Last year we had coaching for Kaipaki “members” children (all ages and both boys and girls) at Kaipaki at 8.30 each Saturday morning. It included all ages with little Billy Clayton being a very keen member along with Riley Binnie, Charlie Baker and others. We will run this again this year starting this coming Saturday (in all weather) 8.30. We are also having a Kaipaki Primary/Intermediate school team play in the Hamilton competition (tbc) so if any children fancy playing on Saturdays and haven’t got a team to play in let me know by return email. Kaipaki now has 4 Senior teams, an under 15 team playing mid week and hopefully an under 13 team. Also I will send out information shortly about an Opening Day on 22 second Nov where we can have a day of fun and relaxed cricket for all our families – more on that shortly Hope all are well. Regards John Kaipaki has replaced the old concrete pitch on the lower field at the Ohaupo Rugby Club. The same surface that is at Kaipaki has been put on and will serve as a second home ground for Kaipaki and another ground to play social or mid week cricket.
