Waikere won the toss and decided to bat first. Kaipaki fielded well but were let down by extras. Young off spinner Brae Ebb made a good debut with economical figures of 0/13 of 5 overs. Despite the loss the team felt that a win was possible and we were above the run rate with wickets in hand after the 10th over, so we are expecting that results will improve throughout the rest of the season.
