A number of Australian breeders and trainers come to the Waikato each year to purchase and look at horses and this year Rodney Schick (Windsor Park Stud) suggested a 'Test' between to two countries take place. Windsor Park Stud is a sponsor of Kaipaki and they donated their free day to the New Zealand Horse Breeders Association for the 'Test'.
Peter Moody (the owner of the worlds best race horse at present) was captain of the Australian team and Rodney was captain of the New Zealand team.
The organising ladies from the marketing group of the NZ Horse Breeders has organised green and gold shirts and black and silver shirts for the two teams who looked very smart indeed.
It is fair to say there was probably more drink consumed than runs scored but the game came down to Australia needing twenty four off the last over. 3 fours and two sixes later the game was tied with one ball left. That ball went for four and the game was won by Australia who didn't appear to suspect that yet another game of cricket was 'strategically orchestrated' ensuring the Waikato horse industry will continue to flourish.
Lots of people and lots of fun.
