There has been a lot of hard work go in to Kaipaki Cricket in the last 2 years and a special mention needs to go out to contributors such as Michael Clayton and Darin Armstrong who manage the Kaipaki Gold team, Ray Walker and Geoff Foster who organize the Kaipaki Colts team (Ray also mows Kaipaki Oval), Graeme Hurren who is the teams official scorer, Fraser Kilgour for his excellent captaincy and helping with recruitment and of course John Parker for his continued support and wisdom.
Kaipaki has been a team that has been built around a special and unique culture with the philosophy of wanting to keep people in cricket. Out of the starting 12 yesterday 5 players would not be playing cricket otherwise and the other members were at a loose end in their cricket careers. It has been a team of relative misfits!. Although one of Kaipaki’s teams had success the true success is having 3 teams on the park yesterday and a Sunday XI playing today with all players loving their cricket!
